This one is one of the easiest side dishes to make. You can add more cucumber slices into the seasoning juice when the bowl is about to get empty. Just remember that the juice will not stay fresh forever: one week is supposedly the longest time you can use the same juice, which gives you plenty of time to make a new one.
How much salt, sugar or vinegar to use is a matter of taste – by testing you will find the correct combination for you.
Granny’s cucumbers can be eaten almost straight away, but if you give them at least one hour’s worth of seasoning they will taste even better.
PORTION: this recipe should fit in a 6 decilitres bowl
TIME TO MAKE: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 pickling or small slicing cucumbers
- water
- slightly white vinegar (to your taste)
- ½ teaspoon of salt (or to your taste)
- 4 teaspoons of sugar (or to your taste)
Wash and peel the cucumbers. Put some hot water in the bowl and melt the sugar in it. Then add cold water to the midpoint of the bowl. Stir in the vinegar and salt. Fill the bowl with sliced cucumbers.
Let them rest in the fridge for at least one hour. Enjoy!
